2024 International Students Convention

The 2024 International Students Convention brought together over 150 international students from eight NSW government schools to explore the theme 'Unity in Diversity: Building Bridges Across Cultures.'

The convention was held on Friday 21 June at Homebush Boys High School and was organised by 2024 International Student Coordinator of the Year, Usha Deo. The program included inspiring speeches, cultural performances, and interactive sessions.

Keynote speakers from the NSW Department of Education, Martin Graham, Deputy Secretary, Teaching Learning and Student Wellbeing, and Milton Wan, Chief Education Officer, DE International, delivered speeches on the importance of inclusivity and the challenges faced by international students.

Special guest speaker, Ms Sally Sitou MP, emphasised the importance of holistic support for international students, addressing their mental health and wellbeing.

Cultural performances featured during the event showcased students' diverse talents and rich cultural heritage.

A highlight of the convention was the participation of mentors from the NSW Government Schools International Student Ambassador Program. YT Wong, Andrea Zhao and William Nguyen, each shared their personal learning journeys and advice with the student audience, providing valuable perspectives.

The convention concluded with a vote of thanks and a closing performance, leaving everyone inspired and looking forward to future conventions.
