2025 International Student Awards Finalists announced

Seven international students have been selected as finalists in the 2025 NSW Government Schools International Student Awards. This year’s finalists represent six different NSW government schools and come from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Fiji.

The NSW Government Schools International Student Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of international students and their significant contributions to our schools and communities. The awards also recognise school and staff excellence in supporting international students.

The 2025 awards ceremony will take place at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia on Tuesday 11 March 2025. To watch the awards ceremony live stream, please register to receive the live stream link.

2025 Leadership Award Finalists

Parisha Singh (Fiji)
John Edmondson High School

Parisha demonstrated exceptional leadership at John Edmondson High School, through her work in Anti-Racism Workshops, promoting inclusivity and addressing discrimination. She actively contributed to fundraising for Stewart House and the Cancer Council and volunteered with the school’s Breakfast Club. Parisha’s commitment to fostering multiculturalism and supporting initiatives such as the Breakfast Club highlights her dedication to creating a respectful and inclusive school environment, making her an exemplary role model.

Xiao Leang Yee (China)
Cabramatta High School

Xiao Leang distinguished herself as an International Student Leader and Student Representative Council (SRC) member at Cabramatta High School. She mentored new international students, supported Year 5 Orientation programs, and represented the school at leadership events, including the GRIP Leadership Conference and the 75th Anniversary of The Human Rights Forum. Xiao Leang also volunteered at Remembrance Day and Breakfast Club, demonstrating her dedication to community support and inclusion.

Jack Li

Qixiu (Jack) Li (China)
Epping Boys High School

Jack demonstrated outstanding leadership as Student Representative Council (SRC) President in 2024 and an SRC member for four years at Epping Boys High School. He led the InterAct Program, assisting overseas students in overcoming cultural barriers, and mentored Year 7 students during their transition to high school. Jack’s leadership extended to his role as Sports House Captain, and he was recognised with the Prefect Honour Award for his extensive contributions

2025 School Service Award Finalists

Chen (Angela) Tang (China)
Burwood Girls High School

Angela demonstrated exceptional dedication to school and community service at Burwood Girls High School. As a Student Representative Council (SRC) and International Student representative, Angela used her hospitality skills to support numerous events, including Cafe on Queen, the Iftar Dinner, Graduation ceremonies, and Wear it Purple Day. She also raised funds for charities such as UNICEF, Cancer Council, and RED CROSS. Angela’s generosity and passion exemplify her commitment to service and her school motto, "Not For Ourselves Alone."

Jack Li

Qixiu (Jack) Li (China)
Epping Boys High School

Jack demontrated exceptional commitment to service at School. He led the 2024 World’s Greatest Shave campaign, which raised over $40,000 for the Leukemia Foundation, and organised Autism Day Bake Sales from 2021 to 2023, raising awareness about autism within the school community. Jack also volunteered at Multicultural Day events, and represented the school at ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day services. His contributions have been recognised with the Gold Duke of Edinburgh International Award for completing 200 hours of community service over the last three years.

Liangpei (Luke) Liu (China)
Mosman High School

Luke demonstrated outstanding dedication to service at Mosman High School. As a Student Representative Council (SRC) member, he led meetings to advocate for international students and organised events such as Lunar New Year, Harmony Day, and Multicultural Day. Luke also led fundraising efforts, including Bandana Day and the Balmoral Burn, and supported new international students through the Buddy Program. As a leader of the Chinese Debating Team and member of the school orchestras, Luke’s contributions reflect his commitment to community service and cultural inclusion.

Epping Boys High School

Jack Li excelled academically at Epping Boys High School and his exceptional performance in the HSC earned him a place on the 2024 HSC Distinguished Achievers list for six subjects, including Mathematics Extension 1, Mathematics Extension 2, Chemistry, Physics, Software Design and Development, and English EAL/D.

Nguyen Ngan (Tina) Phan (Vietnam)
Burwood Girls High School

Tina Phan’s excellent HSC performance earned her a place on the 2024 HSC Distinguished Achievers list for Biology, Mathematics Extension 1, and Mathematics Extension 2. At Burwood Girls High School, Tina received the Commonwealth Parliamentarian’s Merit Award and BGHS Gold Certificates for Academic Excellence in Years 11 and 12.

Haoyu (Harry) Zhang (China)
East Hills Boys High School

Harry Zhang’s outstanding HSC performance earned him a place on the 2024 HSC Distinguished Achievers list for Mathematics Extension 1, Mathematics Extension 2, Chemistry, and Physics. At East Hills Boys High School, he achieved first place in these subjects and excelled in English EAL/D.
