Amid the wet weather and changing social distancing guidance during the recent school holidays, our international students enjoyed some inspiring creative activities with the DE International School Holidays Program.
The holidays program provided opportunities for students to explore different interests, develop new skills, and make friends. Let’s take a look at what they got up to!
The Video Making Holiday Program guided students through the process of creating their very own 'My NSW life' video, to share with friends and family back home.
Over a six week period, students attended online workshops and activities to learn the fundamentals of the video making process, from storyboarding and filming, through to editing. Sessions included a Q&A with NSW Government Schools International Student Ambassador, Jen Liu, who shared tips and techniques for creating engaging videos for social media.
The program culminated in a film festival to share and celebrate the students’ work.
We are thrilled to announce that the video made by Jack Li, from Epping Boys High School, was awarded the ‘Best Film’ prize! Jack’s video showcases a range of editing techniques and the audience were thoroughly entertained by his storytelling and use of comedy - congratulations Jack!
Don’t miss out on watching Jack’s brilliant “My NSW Life” video.
On 21 January 2022, international students worked with a Hazelhurst Art Centre ceramics teacher to learn the basics of working with clay and create their own functional ceramic piece.
Under guidance, the students experimented with different clay tools and techniques, with the resulting pieces including bowls, dishes and decorative artworks. Students will be posted their pieces once they have been fired in the kiln and they are sure to be a fantastic souvenir of a day of creativity and fun.
We were thrilled to see our students making friends and developing new skills during the holidays and look forward to seeing them achieve their best in year ahead!
